You Don't Want It To Be True. . .

But Deep Down, You Know It Is Our Shared Reality
by The Old Hippie Because Most Are So Deep In Denial, That Most Still Believe It'll Get Better

Most still believe this newly created un-America can be undone, and "...that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth," as Lincoln stated in the last line of his Gettysburg Address.  But the reality is, it has perished from this earth.  What has replaced it is a government of, by, and for the corporatists.

The fact that the United States of America is now a corporate-state is the forest, undeniable to anyone that is a rational realist, and has paid even the slightest attention to the successful usurpation of the powers of governance by the Executive branch, from the Legislative and Judicial Branches, in the last six years.  Accomplished through the over-taking of the oversight and regulatory controls, the law creation and interpretation structures, the purposeful disregard for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and international conventions and treaties.  The Executive branch has proven that it has the power to wage war without cause, without legislative permission, without the "of, by, and for" people's consent.  And the final straw... through the sycophantic voter machine corporations, and well placed political cronies, the corporatists have successfully gotten away with the corruption of the last three national elections, and these corporately controlled sycophantic voting machines are being allowed to spread even deeper and wider in the states.

All the rest, the divisive propaganda, the destruction of civil rights, the top-down control of the media, the exposed lies unpunished, the forced movement of wealth to the few top percentage of citizens, while bankrupting the government, while cutting all social safety net programs, while increasing the military budget, while corporations are making historically unprecedented uber profits, while cutting the taxes on those corporation's profits, while the nation is in it's deepest deficit in its history, while attempting over-and-over-again to make the tax-cuts for the corporations and wealthy few permanent, the destruction of all environment regulations on the corporations and military, while global warming and its effects worsen, the opportunistic incorporation of church and state to further divide the masses, the "crisis" of gay marriage, the "crisis" of flag burning, the privation of Social Security, the illegal no-bid give-away of governmental contracts, the abuse of presidential-signing statements, the "legislation" of torture, etc., etc. . .  Are the trees in the forest of the power-grab by the corporations through the Executive branch.

There are a few loose ends still to tied up, but for the most part, the corporatists have successfully completed a hostile take-over of what used to be "our" government.

I had a friend, he has the following degrees M.D., Ph.D., MBA, and bachelors in music and biology. We became friends when I started college after the Navy, and he had re-entered undergraduate school, with a new major.  In every class we shared, we studied together, and were the top of each of those classes.  It was not a casual friendship.  I introduced him to his current wife.  He became a psychiatrist, I became a Dental School dropout.  (He and his wife are childless - I only mention that because of the importance of P.O.V., I dropped out because my son, then six, needed me much more than the world needed another dentist.  I see the world through my son's, my grandchildren's, and my own eyes.  My friend only sees the world of his remaining lifetime.) - I was debating with him the direction our nation was going not long after 9/11, he defending the corporatists' actions. . . He laughingly said "It is perfect."  When I would not give up saying it was wrong, it was bad for not only us, but the whole of the planet, he cut off our "friendship," and all communication with me.

P.O.V. - A drop-out father's/grandfather's, and a multi-degreed childless elitist's. . .
Sadly, both of us wrong, both of us in denial, and both of us right. . .

- I was right, about it being wrong and bad - but I was wrong, it was perfect, and I was in
denial of its perfection.  I was also wrong about it not being "allowed" to be successful.
- He was wrong, and in denial of the fact that I was right about its wrongness and badness,
but he was right about its perfection.  He was also right, it has been "allowed" to succeed.

Nothing else at this time.

So very bloody true my friend! But I still detect the faintest scent of hope in your words. And once that's gone - well, then you've no more to lose. At which point you will be able to do nothing at all (with tranquility) or, if you choose, do something REALLY effective (with tranquility). Take a good, clear-eyed look at the last litte sparkler at the bottome of Pandora's Box. IN TRUTH, it was the worst little demon of them all -- it allowed all the others to be endured, and endured, and endured. But hey, I haven't quite "arrieved" either.

I can't believe your insolence you lilly livered liberal. Don't you have any appreciation for your benafactors. your president cleaned all of the kindling out of the forests, and made them safe for the American people. He has explained his programs over and over, and you still haven't got it through your neanderthal skull.

I am most upset with the person who impersonated "Oregon Senator Gordon Smith", if you do not wish to be honest and post a comment using your actual name please post anonymously, you even set up an account profile using the same method from the same site with a little added in by you as a jab. You cut and pasted from a blog which you linked to which even states at the bottom of the page as being a satire and does not purport to actually represent the Senator’s actual position, the actual disclaimer is “Disclaimer This site is satire. This site is not written by Gordon Smith. He has not endorsed any of the contents. All of this weblog's content is fictional, similarity with persons or events past or present is coincidental or explicitly for the use of satire”.

I think Oregan Senator Smith needs to take the time to work on his satire. It could be funny if done right and needs to be in context with the Old Hippies Blog, not just a cut and paste job.

I must disagree with the "oregon senator gordon smith" when he states that all things happen with no fault. It is plainly the fault of everyone who allows and accepts the taking away of everyone’s freedom, the wholesale destruction of the rights which define this once great nation. It is the fault of all who allow and accept the loss of liberty for the illusion of security, it is the fault of all who choose to turn a blind eye in regards to the blatant and obnoxious way this current government maliciously conducts everyday business with no thought or regard to the damage it is inflicting on the citizens of this once great nation!!! So please do not insult the intelligence of all who read this blog with such drivel!! All is not good, all is not in perfect balance and harmony, and I really do not believe that what is wrote here is gibberish with the exception of your comments.
Whirled peas, though I understand your play on words be advised that the vegetable peas cause me to be ill if I eat them.

You're right that the world is all wrong. It is. But, it's also perfect in its wrongness. Why do I say that?

You're a soul, a tiny point of energy. I'm a soul. Everyone is a soul. Souls are eternal. We go around this cyclical drama playing our parts in bodies, creating karma, (both good and bad) through our thoughts, words and actions and taking rebirth according to our karmas with souls that we have karmic accounts with. We don't realize that we are actors in a play, creating our own dramas. The world is all wrong right now because its the end of the play. The play begins in beauty and perfection and gradually falls into chaos and negativity. Then an outside force comes in, cleans everything up and we souls return to our home, a world of red-golden light where we dwell in peace and purity beyond thought and sound. And then we come down again into bodies to play out our respective parts in this drama. The parts are recorded in the souls like songs on a CD. We're all playing our last song now. But, souls are all eternal. We never die. Only bodies die.

It's totally amazing. The laws are: nothing can ever be created or destroyed. Things move from a state of higher consciousness to a state of lower consciousness, the law of entropy. The soul is an actor, but has lost awareness of that. All the world is a stage, really. As Shakespeare said. Only one soul remains beyond and can explain these things and plays the role of Purifier of the whole world. Everyone remembers Him in one way or another because every soul has the deep recording on the soul, that He came once and did something great. Even atheists call out to Him when they are dying.

Take care dear soul,
Love and peace,
Carol

“Even atheists call out to Him...”

Sorry Carol, true atheists do not.  I know from two particular instances in my life, and anecdotally from many others.  Wishing that true atheists did, just to support your ideology, does not make it true.

Granted there are those that refer to themselves as atheists, just as there are those that refer to themselves as ... whatever ... whom simply aren't, and end up proving their self reference wrong under differing forms of stress.

Saying what a few delusional "atheists" do is what true atheists do... is 'labeling,' is wrong, is not even polite.

Think about it.

I find any form of belief in "an afterlife" desperate at best, and sad - Again, granted, there may even be some form of it.  But we humans have absolutely no way to know, prove or disprove, or sense, 'it' - Trying to disprove it is to try to prove a negative - Simply not possible.

We have such a short time within this existence, I just can't see wasting time with it, when there is so very much more to experience within our universe.

I don't even like the label atheist, I prefer appreciator of what is, and what is really possible.  But that is too baroque for a "label."
