This Is America Today, Updated. . .

So Many Have Recently Asked...  What Have We Become?
by The Old Hippie Because The Absentee Revolt Is so Telling

What Have We Become?  This Is What We Have Become:
- A nation of, by, and for the corporations, not the people.
- A nation that allowed three corrupt national elections to go un-corrected.
- A nation that is allowing the same corrupt corporate voting machines increasing use to spread.
- A nation that is the #1 most polluting nation on the planet.
- A nation that allowed over 400 environmental laws/regulations to be "disappeared."
- A nation that is the #1 imprisoned nation on the planet - and in history.
- A nation that allows and condones the torture of human beings.
- A nation that has officially given up habeas corpus protection.
- A nation that is still allowing a network of secret torture chambers to exist.
- A nation that is the only 1st-world nation without universal health care.
- A nation that is the only 1st-world nation that still executes prisoners.
- A nation that has allowed this administration to destroy New Orleans without punishment.
- A nation that has allowed proven lies to start a war of choice and profit to go unpunished.
- A nation that allows sneering oil CEO's to not have to "swear in" when testifying.
- A nation that only days later finds out that they lied through their teeth - does nothing.
- A nation that confronted with mountains of evidence of corruption - does nothing.
- A nation that continues to allow the likes of Ken Lay to live in luxury, unpunished.
- A nation whose majority now admits to the truth of their lies - still hasn't revolted.
- A nation that is continuing to allow the funneling of even more power into the corrupted profit-driven executive branch, from the legislative and judicial branches, by their continuing, and so far, successful efforts to change the laws of "our" Constitutional Democracy to do so.
- A nation that has allowed obvious repressive tax-cuts, and enhanced tax-protections, to the top few percent and corporations, to remain intact, and even possibly extended, or even made permanent, without real protests, or revolt.
- A nation that actually thinks the Constitutional Democracy system still works.
- A nation that knows that the next elections, (2006 and 2008,) will again be using even more of the same corporately corrupted voting machines that have been proven to have been allowed to corrupt the last three national elections, and so far, nothing "real" has been done to stop another election from being corrupted by them again.
- A nation that now knows the NSA was allowed to spy on our citizens, illegally.
- A nation that heard the president flagrantly lie about, and then even defend, this illegal spying.
- A nation that now "speaks" of impeachment/punishment, but, so far, has done nothing.

A nation so deep in denial of reality that it has become blinded to its own demise.

If you happen to be one of those 35% that currently still approve of this administration, I truly hate you, for the allowed manipulation of your ignorance, and/or for your contribution to the destruction of this nation, a once great nation that could only be destroyed from within, by the sneeringly and arrogantly corrupted manipulation of the fears, ignorance, and stupidity of "citizens" like you. . .

Hello!

Well, you seem to be in good companionship with other regimes that step on human rights with their feet.

The pain is, that you, seen all in all, would have the chance to change that only as whole people of a nation. But democracy seems to be also just a blindfold for the masses. We vote, but who is canditates? The law calls this "the will of the people" but the only choice we have is to give our vote and then? It is pure sarcasm to tell us, that our vote expresses our will. It only represents the lack of alternatives, that we face...
We only choose between the bad and the worst...

Good blog!

Never stop thinking!

Correct. Right on, Old Hippie!

We live in a nation of make believe, of blatant lies and of deceit; where truth is turned upside down and falsity becomes our reality.

Where, what too many people be(lie)ve in, is a lie. To paraphrase Mark Twain, "It’s not what you don't know, that can hurt you. It's what you think you know, that just ain't so."

Furthermore, as Anais Nin once said, "We do not see things as they are, we see them as we are".

Thus, there are two basic rationales for everything: What sounds good. And then, there is the real reason.

Unfortunately, most people do not understand reality and simply end up buying into what sounds good.

Personally, I am not here to worship what is known or what sounds good, but to question it.

(When doing this, remember, your mind is like a pocket knife, it only works when it is open.)

You gosh darn hippie, commie pinko scum bag. I hope you burn in hell for what you are doing. I searched for patriotic images, and what do I get? I get pictures that make fun of our soldiers who fight for not only YOUR freedom to say all of these bullcrap ideas about our country, but also the freedom of those across the world. And about the health care, do you know how many people live in this country? And what makes you think Bush is responsible for Katrina? He doesn't have some kind of "Secret evil weather machine." Also, you realize that we (as the world, not just our country) have had environmental problems since the 14th century? I haven’t seen any of those liberal presidents do anything drastic about that. I hope you realize that America is one of the freest countries in the world. Go to Russia; see if they will tolerate your ideas. You’d be either executed as a traitor or sent to Siberia almost instantly.

Its me Mike, nobody special but I had to comment after reading all the reasons you feel make you want to leave this country. What got me a little curious was that although you don't know me, and I may not agree with you, you HATE me. What a strong word to come from an adult, even a HIPPY. I have a few years on you if you are 58 on this date 2/27/06 in time, and I observed the Hippy Generation. I was a little too matured at the time, before and after to get sucked up in that sex, drugs and rock and roll, garbage so, as bright as you claim to be, you are some what of a burnout when you make such statements as I HATE you. Sounds a little like the way the mind of a brainwashed or burned out brain works. Its nice that you can come up with yet another 'hate' blog, but then too, your fortunate that you live in this corrupted country where, someone is not knocking on your door right now, and dragging you off to jail and censoring your right to think, and express yourself. You might want to sit down with your wife and reconsider moving to another country, as a complainer, your not going to get anything done here. I live here in Florida too, and I have always wondered why anyone would want to move to Key West unless of course, they have had a few too many drugs or experimented with their minds somewhere down the line...Any way, I was looking for the Old Hippy that posts so many pictures on the Internet, obviously thats not you because this other Old Hippy seems to appreciate the reality of life, and the beauty of art.
