Personal Thoughts. . .

It Has Been Many Months Since I Have Posted To This Blog

More of my personal thoughts. . .  but again I have decided to place some more of my thoughts, and those of a more wiser persuasion than myself, here for the reading and consideration of the masses.

There have been many questions as to why the Government can get away with so much; one of the reasons is that the attacks of September 11th, which was used so effectively by our current Government to take control from this nation’s people, were used to persuade the people to give up so much more of their liberties in the interest of security and safety.

Benjamin Franklin stated it well when he said, "They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety."  This says a lot that a skilled Government, which was in place during September 11th, could use such a tragedy to their advantage to take more of our liberties which were slowly eroded away anyway from the more powerful few which have so skillfully convinced the general public of their right to govern us.  I for one must consider why it is that a government is making that decision, is it not the people’s position, right, and responsibility to determine who governs them in a Representative Republic?

Edmund Burke stated that, "The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion."  Is not the use of September 11th as a catalyst to take away more of our freedoms by convincing the citizens of this great country a delusion pressed into service that they need to loose so much more of their liberties just to feel more safe and secure?

Every citizen in this country needs to wake up from the delusion which says that the government has their best interest in mind when they take away more and more of our liberties in the interest of making them feel safer and more secure.  Each individual has the right and responsibility to make their own life safer and more secure. - Added to this, each citizen should begin presenting their displeasure through the responsible use of voting, voting those that wish to harm and force this great country and it’s citizens into the belief that the only way to feel safer is the loss of more and more of our liberties!

George Jean Nathan said, "Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote."  Every citizen of this country needs to seriously consider the ramifications of not getting out to vote during this off year election, this government needs to be separated again along some sort of party lines, and soon.  This of course will not solve all the problems faced by this great country, but it would be a small victory, and enough small victories may actually turn the tide towards saving such a great country, and maybe even the world.

Edward Abbey said, "A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government."  Is that not a description of a patriot?  Edmund Burke stated, "General rebellions and revolts of a whole people never were encouraged now or at any time.  They are always provoked."  Hasn't all educated and sensible citizens in this great country been provoked?  Provocation can of course take many forms, but the taking away of liberties can, and should, be considered an important provocation.

Alice Walker stated that, "The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any."  Has not the government convinced the citizens of the country that they don’t have the power to change the outcome and direction that is being forced upon them?  Added to this, even the few who recognize the wrong doing which is being perpetrated and are speaking out, are being demonized and attacked so as to silence any opposition.

Aristotle said, "Democracy is when the indigent, and not the men of property, are the rulers."  It is time that all the sensible citizens rise up and take control of this country through legal and responsible means.  I am sure that given the overpowering numbers which could be brought to bare against the small group of Officials which have taken control of this country, would go a long way towards saving it, and finally make those who have damaged this great country pay for their total disregard for common decency and responsible governing of this great nation.
