I'm Sorry. . .

I've Been Very Inconsistent In Posting Of Late
by The Old Hippie Because Of That ‘Something Ain’t Right’ Feeling...

Patriot

I readily admit to being obviously inconsistent with posting lately.  I sense something in the political winds that I'm having difficulty in defining.  A growing feeling that something ain’t right.  The only way I can describe it for now is... Optimism shrouded in dark invisible energy, similar to the dark energy scientists are trying to define that is forcing an expansion of the universe.  Sensing it, began when the right gleefully approved Obama’s cabinet picks, more so than we who elected him.

Only time will show what the final reality will be.  But since, (so far,) the incoming administration, and the incoming congress, has said nothing to indicate that they will pursue any punishments, or even any investigative research into the criminality of the outgoing corporatist criminals, I'm not sure I hold any optimism of a real dent being made into stopping the quite successful theft, the ongoing purposeful wealth transfer... ‘of, by, and for the-very-few.’

But I'm really trying to quell my outrage fatigued overwrought cynicism of late - Trying to have a bit of hope that the corrections, the punishments, the ending of the theft, and reversing of the wealth transfer will finally begin.

But - A large part of my ‘something just ain’t right’ feeling is that... It will not begin.  That with all the hope of change expressed in this past election, all the change will be domestic, and it will be ‘cover’ (for lack of a better word) for a foreign policy that will basically remain the same.  Obviously there is nothing wrong, and a lot right, about the coming domestic changes and corrections, but... At least for now, I am sensing a lack of change and corrections in our ‘Pax Americana’ mode of foreign policies, and that is not good, not good at all.

A“Below The Fold” bonus Article - From the Los Angeles Times, Dec. 18, 2008

“UAW Busting, Southern Style”
Foreign carmakers are enlisting the help of GOP senators from states in the South to break the union.

The foreign nonunion auto companies located in the South have a plan to reduce wages and benefits at their factories in the United States.  And to do it, they need to destroy the United Auto Workers.

Last week, Senate Republicans from some Southern states went to work trying to do just that, on the foreign car companies’ behalf.  Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.) -- representatives from states that subsidize companies such as Honda, Volkswagen, Toyota and Nissan -- first tried to force the UAW to take reductions in wages and benefits as a condition for supporting the auto industry bailout bill.  When the UAW refused, those senators torpedoed the bill.

A“Below The Fold” reprised bonus - And a 4th update to something I wrote a while back...

The very few are winning - They are not stupid, nor are they incompetent.
The very few only care for the power of, the ‘control-of-the-control’ of... wealth.

The very few are educated, intelligent, efficient, and successful.
The very few have intelligently, efficiently, successfully transferred the wealth to themselves.

America is not the very few.  We, (the other 99.x%,) are America.
The wealth they stole, was our wealth.  It is now their wealth.  Their power.

We gave up securities, liberties, freedoms, so the very few could complete the theft.
We still are. . . Without protest, without revolt. . . With our children.

[ Update ]  And now they blatantly come demanding $700 billion, (to over $1 trillion,) more -
To pay for their ‘investment’ crimes - Do you think anyone will stop them?

[ 2nd Update ]  “Our” congresspeople changed some of wording of the bailout, admittedly for the better in some cases, but the final reality is that the thieves got the money, and its implicit power.

Again - You allowed - Without censure, without punishment.  Again no one stopped the very few.

The very few got away with another chunk of ‘our’ wealth, and its power over us.

[ 3rd UpdateThen they celebrated the extra theft, -twice- -openly- ...using the bailout money.

Let’s See. . .

Cheney Publicly Confesses To War Crimes... Knowing You’ll “Allow.”
by The Old Hippie Because It Can't Get More In-Your-Face.
Hacker
{-The Way Many Picture Me-}

This time it was so obvious, because Cheney openly confessed to being a war criminal, even the most delusional ditto-head must be able to comprehend it - The Vice-President is a war criminal, a publicly self-confessed one, who basically, (publicly even,) is, in a sneeringly challenging way, saying...  “What the fuck are you going to do about it?”

My feeling is, my prediction, which is based on all of your past performances of “allowing” the criminals their crimes over these last eight years, (and that Cheney is fully aware of,) you will again, as usual, do absolutely nothing about it.

You will again ‘allow’ the criminal, and his crime.

I'm no one special; not a reporter, not a member of the government... I am just like most of you, a simple American, but one that has been paying attention for a long time, and I must say, the level of “allowing” by my nation’s ‘citizens’ these past eight years, is beyond incomprehensible to me.

Have I mentioned lately how really tired I am of outrage fatigue?  You allowed the deregulation of the regulated, a crime committed, and allowed, under your collective noses by the criminals themselves.  You allowed the theft of our entire treasury by these sociopathic criminals.  You allowed them, for no other reason than war-profits to themselves, to illegally invade a nation that was no threat to us, against long standing international laws, and our own nation’s laws, pretty much knowing they were lying.  When the truth of their lies was finally proven beyond any doubt, and now publicly, confessed to by a sneering Cheney, you are again, doing nothing about it.  Again allowing the criminals their crimes, without stopping, without punishment, without decency.

Without decency.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =  <  B e l o w  T h e  F o l d  >  = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I'm really tired of redundantly asking, begging, screaming, crying; “What the fuck does it take?!?” to get this nation’s so called ‘citizens’ to stop the “allowing” of the insanely blatantly, and sneering theft ‘of, by, and for’ the-(pathologically sociopathic)-very-few.

I Also Told You...

I Said You’d Do Nothing.  You Did Nothing.  They Won.  We Lost.
by The Reality-Based Independent Media, Bloggers, et al.  You Keep Allowing, and Allowing...

“Congress wanted to guarantee that the $700 billion financial bailout would limit the eye-popping pay of Wall Street executives, so lawmakers included a mechanism for reviewing executive compensation and penalizing firms that break the rules.

But at the last minute, the Bush administration insisted on a one-sentence change to the provision, congressional aides said.  The change stipulated that the penalty would apply only to firms that received bailout funds by selling troubled assets to the government in an auction, which was the way the Treasury Department had said it planned to use the money.

Now, however, the small change looks more like a giant loophole, according to lawmakers and legal experts.  In a reversal, the Bush administration has not used auctions for any of the $335 billion committed so far from the rescue package, nor does it plan to use them in the future.  Lawmakers and legal experts say the change has effectively repealed the only enforcement mechanism in the law dealing with lavish pay for top executives.”

To all whom keep allowing the allowing - “Fuck you oh so very much.”

It wasn’t the thieves, the corporatists, the republicans - - - It was you who allowed the thieves their thefts, and allowed the corporatists their crimes, and allowed the republicans to run amok within our government, and you are in fact -still- allowing... it all to go on, and on. . .

“YOU”, not ‘them,’ were/are that factor that caused it all.

So Obvious - Now -

A ‘Direct Cut & Paste Must See’ - That Now is ‘Obvious’ Truth.
by David Sirota, via Campaign for America's Future, December 12, 2008

→  “We Told You”  ←

“Please, forgive me for saying it. I know it’s a tad annoying, but it has to be said to America’s ruling class in this humble column space.  Because if it’s not said here you can bet it won't be said anywhere else in the media, and it needs to be said somewhere on behalf of the millions of citizens who were right.

We told you so.

In the slow-motion train wreck that became the current economic meltdown, our bipartisan political Establishment and the sycophantic punditburo have been wrong over and over and over again.  They told us that eviscerating consumer protections would unleash the market’s benevolent power and boost the economy.  They told us that a trillion-dollar Wall Street bailout would solve a credit crisis.  They told us that bailout would be subjected to intense oversight and scrutiny.

Wrong, wrong and wrong -- and when critics predicted just that, sneering commentators and congressional leaders berated us as know-nothing Luddites, conspiracy theorists, or both.

But with the release of three new reports, there's no debate anymore about who was correct and who wasn’t.  The studies prove that the critics were right and the ideologues of Washington were wrong.

When in 2005 Congress overwhelmingly passed a credit card industry-written bill gutting bankruptcy laws, progressives were right to try to stop it -- and not just because it was an immoral move to legalize usury.  We were right because as the New York Federal Reserve Bank reports, the bill played an integral role in the recent foreclosure surge that crushed the economy.

In the past, bankruptcy laws made sure debtors first and foremost continued paying their mortgages so that they could stay in their home.  But the 2005 legislation effectively compels debtors to first pay off their credit cards, meaning many then have no money left to pay their mortgage.  The Fed’s report estimates that the bankruptcy bill is causing 32,000 more foreclosures per quarter than the economy would have already generated.

We told you so.

When almost every media voice in America was sounding the alarm of financial panic and demanding a Wall Street bailout plan; when bailout opponents were roundly ridiculed as “irresponsible” by politician and pundit alike -- those opponents were nonetheless right to say then what a study from the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank says now: that the case hadn’t been made.

While reporters and the Bush administration frantically insisted that bank-to-business lending had ceased, inter-bank lending had stopped, and short-term “commercial paper” loans had dried up, the Minneapolis researchers tell us that “all three claims were false” and continue to be false; that “nobody has explained how the money system has frozen when the data says it has not”; and that “a trillion dollar intervention warrant(ed) a bit more serious analysis.”

We told you so.

When lawmakers said the bailout included strict oversight measures, skeptics were right to say that claim was patently untrue.  According to a new analysis by federal officials at the Government Accountability Office, virtually nonexistent oversight of the bailout means “taxpayers may not be adequately protected” and that the bailout’s stated goal of fixing the economy “may not be achieved in an efficient and effective manner.”

Yes, we told you so.

And so now, even though these damning reports have garnered scant news coverage, perhaps there will be a change.  As we -- the pragmatic progressive majority - demand tough new financial regulations; job-creating investments in public infrastructure; labor law reforms; universal health care; revised international trade policies; a repeal of the odious bankruptcy bill and an end to Wall Street welfare - maybe, just maybe, our humiliated rulers will start listening.”

What More Can One Say?

You Allow The Lies, And Demean The truth As “Fringe” Conspiracy.
The Result Being...  We’ve Gone From ‘The Democracy’ To A Decaying Empire, In 28 Years.

“When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the

and its speaker a raving lunatic.”
  --Dresden James

Read

Just 28 years, that’s all it took to turn this country from the ‘of, by, and for the people democracy,’ to an ‘of, by, and for the-very-few corporatist oligarchy.’  A corporatist’s decaying empire wet-dream, where ‘incompetence by design’ was ‘allowed by its citizens’ to become the historically successful, wealth transfer to the-very-few.  Without propitious protest, nor revolt.

I don't blame the thieves, the corporatists, nor the republicans, (even though they are part and parcel of both,) it’s what they do.  All Americans know these three facts well.  I blame the ‘citizens’ for the allowing, especially as it became obvious to even the most blinkered and delusional, that it was happening because of their, and others, ongoing, insane. . .  “allowing.”

Not to be redundant, but I have to wonder...  Why are you still allowing it to continue?

What The Fuck Does It Take?

Talk About A Blatant “In Your face” Fuck-You From The Republicans...
by The Old Hippie Because It Can't Get More Obvious.
Hacker
{-The Way Many Picture Me-}

This time it was so obvious, as to where the republicans real concerns are, even the most delusional ditto-head must be able to comprehend it - The republicans just blocked the bailout for over three million American workers, then ‘blamed’ it on the unions, also they did so just few weeks after they gave many more billions of dollars to the investment bankers, without any accountability or oversight, (as in... ‘no questions asked, you boys have fun now.’)

But when it came to putting up 15 billion dollars of ‘our’ tax dollars to protect the jobs for over three million American workers?  No! - then they have cojones to blame the unions for their blocking it?  In other words...  They’ll support the theft ‘of, by, and for’ their-very-few, but they (blatantly) will (openly) not help the common American fodder-unit worker.

By blocking the bailout of the American ‘Big-3’ auto industry they, (the republicans... the sneering sycophantic collaborating corporatists,) are able to kill several birds with this one stone;  First and foremost, they support the ongoing theft for the-very-few.  Plus they use the opportunistic timing of this blocking of the bailout to allow their propagandists to ‘blame’ the only institution protecting the workers, the unions, (which their-very-few hate and fear.)  Plus they put a stop to the progressive changes the Congress was bringing to the bailout, like dumping the corporatists’ top officers, like turning the whole of the industry toward a more ecological (non-petroleum based) economy, like stopping the allowing of a seat for the unions at the decision table, like de-privatizing (nationalizing) the industry for the ‘common good.’

The Republicans successfully blocked the bill 52-25.  And I am again...
betting that you, American ‘citizens’ all, will once again allow it.

I'd like to be proven wrong, just once, on that prediction.  Just once.

As They Say. . .

The More It Changes, The More It Remains The Same...  (Maybe Not?)
by The Old Hippie Because There May Be Signs Of ‘Hope’ After All?

Patriot

After giving the bankers a trillion+ dollars without accountability, nor oversight, congress is now considering giving billions more to the ‘big 3’ auto corporations.  At least, this time, they are giving ‘lip-service’ to attaching some actual accountability, maybe even doing something to force them to do the ‘right thing’ for realities like the environment and workers protections.  Plus they may be able to force the top corporatist executives out, ‘executives’ that spent their entire careers fighting both of those concerns for their and their ‘the-very-few’ friend’s profits.

Jeeze. . .

What Part Of This Do You Not Get?
by The Old Hippie Because It has Gone Past Surreal and entered insane.

The “new” administration is keeping Lieberman, Hillary, Gates, and has brought back the Clinton administration’s staff of corporate-friendly cautious-right-of-center people, not to mention the ‘lets have war, not peace’ crowd, and have already announced that they will back off on the tax cuts for the wealthy, that they promised they would not back down from.

Obama/Biden will not be able to control these people.  This bow to, this show of, bipartisanship, is going to be a disaster for all but the-very-few.  It is obvious from their gleeful praises of Obama’s picks for the top level cabinet positions so far.  These picks are too entrenched in their corporate profits, and in way too deep with the-very-few to give up the power of the profits, (whether those profits are wealth and/or power, or control of one or both,) that they already have.

Think I'm being too cynical?  Have you paid any attention at all to what’s going on?  Day by day my initial optimism from the election, just like in 2006, is being smacked back down by the reality of the ongoing political events of ‘our’ elected politicians.  The republicans completely ignored the people in favor of the corporatists.  The democrats (as a whole) caved on the impeachment, they caved on the tax cuts, they caved on bringing the troops home, they caved on the bailout(s), they caved on the people’s obvious demands of the last two elections - For punishment, for correction, for accountability, and protection from corporatists run amok.  Completely ignored those demands in fact.  Oh they gave them lip service, angry words and loud righteous indignation, but in reality did nothing to stop, much less correct or punish the criminals.

Now we have this ‘new’ populous administration, that is already caving in, (even before they are actually in office,) and making it even more difficult to actually go after the criminals to make the corrections needed. . .  Plus, to make it even worse and more obvious, they are handing trillions of tax dollars over to them, again blatantly with no accountability, with no real questions asked.

Why would I ever be cynical?!?  Why do you as a nation keep “allowing” your own destruction?

The Obvious Observed...

The Activists’ Saw, “Wake Up!” Obviously Wasn’t Loud Enough.
by This Old Hippie Because The Reality Is Obvious... It’s Already Too Late - Now.

“Obama Is Getting Praise From All The Wrong People.”

That quote, (source article link,) is our reality - Now.
Read

It has become very obvious, at least for those of us that are still paying attention to reality-based analysis, that ‘something is just not right’ with this evolving Obama administration - The election, historic in the strength of its implied mandate, an election where the people literally yelled for real change... may have been delusional hope after all, as this new administration is proving itself to be a right-of-center DLC wet dream - and not what the left-of-center people voted for, hoped for, demanded.  we the people made it clear, we don’t want corporate friendly, cautious compromise... nor do we wish to be ignored, again.

Not to be redundant, but I have to wonder...  Will this ‘blatant ignoring’ be “allowed” - again?
